Sutton Park — Birmingham

A lodge at the edge of the park

Midland Lodge is a Victorian Gothic Revival lodge on the eastern boundary of Sutton Park, a 2,400-acre National Nature Reserve and one of the largest urban parks in Europe. It sits beside the Four Oaks Estate and is recognised as a local heritage asset by Birmingham City Council.

Now it is being brought back to life, carefully, so that it can be enjoyed again.

Questions

What neighbours ask

What is happening to Midland Lodge?

It is being restored and renovated. The outside is being kept as close to the original building as possible, and the inside is being rebuilt to a high standard so it can open as short-stay accommodation.

Will the outside of the building change?

No. The lodge is a heritage building, so its walls, roof, chimneys and windows are being repaired like for like rather than altered. The visible changes are cleaning, repairs and new gardens and groundworks.

What will it be used for?

A private lodge for short stays, for visitors to Sutton Park, families visiting the area and anyone who wants a quiet few nights by the park.

When will it open?

We are aiming to welcome the first guests in January 2027.
